Presenting academic research to non-specialist audiences, and engaging local and global partners as members of a larger community of research and learning.
Bucknell researchers from all departments and centers meet in Bertrand Library, creating a shared space for interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange. Our Public Scholarship Hub, rooted in this rich environment, reaches out into the wider community, involving members of the public not only as a valued audience for scholarship, but active partners collaborating as partners in research and archival preservation.
While all departments of Bertrand Library engage with public scholarship activity to supporting projects from concept to catalog entry, two in particular participate extensively in research and publication.
SCUA is are committed to partnering with community organizations beyond the Bucknell campus to make their primary source materials more accessible for researchers and the public. We work with the partners to plan for potential preservation, arrangement, digitization, and online hosting, as well as assisting with seeking funding sources.
DP&S provides the public scholarship community the tools and training to make the most of digital technology. Our teams make GIS and mapping platforms, multimedia creation, data analysis and visualization, web design, and digital publishing accessible for researchers from Bucknell and beyond.
For more on public scholarship projects and participation, we encourage all Bucknell scholars and community members to contact us at publicscholarship@bucknell.edu, and explore some of our featured projects below.
